Episode 44 – Think you know motivation? Take a look at these top 5 motivational quotes

Humanity is entering the Age of Wisdom.

It can be easy to get lost or even overwhelmed with the amount of information now available on the Internet but you can always count on wisdom to be your guiding star. Motivational quotes simplify the most complex situations and decisions into excellent and easy-to-process chunks of advice.

Which piece(s) of wisdom do you go with?

Only you will know what is “right” for you – you’ll need to tap into your intuition (your gut feeling) and listen to your “inner” voice. If that doesn’t work, use these tips to help:

  • Be specific in what wisdom you need.

When looking for a piece of wisdom, be specific in what is it you need. If you need some wisdom on patience or discipline, look for discipline-based wisdom.

  • Do you catch my drift?

This is about feeling the “motion in the ocean”. Sometimes it’s subtle – it’s just the way it’s written or even just the arrangement of the words make that little more sense to you than the others. Other times, it may be the name of the author that caught your eye. Go with it!

Don’t just take the quote as is, who was that person? What type of life do/did they live? Were they a guru, world class athlete, business person, artist, performer or leader? Sometimes that person may have simply lived through a similar situation to the one you’re going through.

  • Ask for help

You’re not alone. If in doubt, ask a health professional for help. Counsellors and psychologists will be useful here.

My top 5 motivation quotes and why they are so effective!

1. “Get the inside right and the outside will fall into place “- Eckhart Tolle

Quite possibly one of the most well known spiritual leaders of this time (early 21st Century), Eckhart Tolle has been able to harness not only a deep sense of understanding for “spiritual awakening” but is also able to help thousands of people through the process. His grasp of time, the present moment (“nowness”) and inner peace is truly wonderful and it’s particularly inspirational seeing as though it comes from his own personal experiences as well.

This motivational quote from Eckhart is about drawing focus back on yourself first. Often, individuals will get caught up in the “wild seas” of life and forget that they need to give themselves self-love and care. It’s also about being true to oneself and their “Journey”, not the agenda that was placed upon them by others.

Moreover, it’s about finding inner peace, or a sense of “Zen” without all the overthinking and mental noise. If in doubt, focus on yourself first, then the world will start to take shape and direct you.

There’s another quote similar to this that I like:

“Give me a firm place to stand and I will move the Earth” – Archimedes

2.“The secret of success is found in your daily routine.” John Maxwell

This is a practical habit’s based quote that holds a lot of wisdom. This is a quote from John Maxwell’s book, The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth. John is a wise and insightful man who brings his life experience into his teachings. This quote gives hope to those who want to improve their lives. They don’t need to go to the extreme to be successful; it’s a matter of rearranging your day.

How easy is that? Simply look at your goal and look at what you’re doing. If they align then you’ll get there eventually. If your goal and your daily routine aren’t aligned – you’re kidding yourself – you’ll never achieve your goal if you continue doing that daily routine.

This is also similar to this quote:

“You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.” C.G Jung

3.”Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.” – John Rockefeller

This is an exciting quote for those who are striving for success and want more out of life. It’s easy to settle in life –  and you’ll be given plenty of opportunities – but don’t be tempted. You’ve come this far; you may as well finish it well! I like this quote as well because it’s about pushing for your best, going for what you came for – not settling for silver – but getting the gold!

Simply ask yourself, is this what I came for? Or, am I content to settle for something less than I demanded? If the answer is no, remember to go for great.
